Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

Qualifications /education:

  • Masters Degree  in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in credit risk management
  • Ability to write comprehensive credit proposals, including but not limited to, analysing company accounts, assessing cash flows, modelling cash flow projections, undertaking indepth industry comparative studies and making appropriate counterparty and transactional recommendations.
  • Good understanding of investment/corporate banking products with experience of the Indian business, legal and regulatory environment
  • Ability to independently handle transactions end to end & highlight any red flags early in the process
  • Ability to succinctly articulate his/her views & provide appropriate transaction specific challenge to frontline

Skills and knowledge:

Essential

  • Experience in credit risk management at a major Investment bank
  • Good understanding of investment and corporate banking products
  • Ability to interpret company’s financial performance by way of cash flow, balance sheet and P&L, coupled with strong financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to conduct effective client due diligence and obtain required information through interaction with client and / or coverage
  • Ability to understand business environment and key risk drivers, carrying out comprehensive credit assessment and making appropriate and succinct recommendations under time pressure.
  • Utilise multiple information/data sources to analyze and present solutions keeping the overall firm business objective in mind.
  • Working knowledge of facility documentation. Ability to apply suitable terms in legal documents
  • IT competence including experience with MS Word, Excel & Powerpoint
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Solid administration and follow up skills

This role is based in Mumbai.

Purpose of the role

To safeguard the financial health of the bank by identifying, analysing, and mitigating potential credit risks associated with lending activities.

Accountabilities

  • Analysis of financial data, including income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and economic trends, to determine the risk of default.
  • Monitoring of existing loan portfolios to identify potential credit deterioration or early warning signs of default.
  • Recommendation of loan approvals, rejections, or adjustments based on risk evaluation and bank lending policies.
  • Development and implementation of credit risk mitigation strategies, including collateral management, loan restructuring, and workout plans.

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
