What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Capital and Leverage Management, Sr. Assistant VP in New York, NY (multiple positions available):

  • Support Business as Usual (BAU) capital management of local legal entities, including the Intermediate Holding Company (IHC) and main operating entities in the Americas, to ensure adherence to minimum regulatory requirements (inc. Total Loss Absorbing Capital and eligible long-term debt) and company’s capital policies and standards. BAU management includes capital forecasting, usage monitoring, and preparing detailed reports and presentations for Treasury senior management and Committees.

  • Conduct the capital application process in the US for all entities, and assist Global Capital and Leverage Management (CaLM) with group capital applications.

  • Responsible for understanding Basel IV requirements and preparing impact assessments for strategic deals for Senior Management to make Go-No Go decisions.

  • Support quarterly Capital Adequacy assessments and the firm-wide Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Dodd-Frank Act Stress Testing (DFAST), including model maintenance and enhancement, sensitivity analysis, report preparation, peer analysis, and regulatory submissions, by coordinating across segments and teams and addressing queries from Risk functions.

  • Assist in planning and executing all capital actions for the US holding company and subsidiary entities by coordinating with different stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Legal, Tax, Treasury

  • Support the management of IHC Total Loss Absorbing Capital (TLAC) and eligible debt instruments, including issuance, redemption, repricing, profit, and loss monitoring and valuations.

  • Establish internal procedures and capital targets, define metrics, and develop processes to monitor and optimize capital and leverage levels, ensuring alignment with regulatory compliance and the company’s strategic objectives.

  • Monitor capital levels and distribution plans of subsidiaries and non-local entities, such as Barclays Capital Inc. (BCI), Barclays Bank Mexico (BBMX) and Barclays Capital Canada Inc

  • (BCCI) to ensure the sufficiency of capital to support company’s planning and meet regulatory requirements.

  • Identify and drive the implementation of initiatives aimed at optimizing consolidated capital usage and returns to align with the Group’s and US Intermediate Holding Company’s (IHC) overall return on equity (ROE) objectives.

  • Support Global CaLM legal entity management transaction cycle and group-wide capital management efforts, including, but not limit to, maintaining procedures, policies, governance, and control assessments and assisting the team in addressing internal and regulatory queries and feedback.

  • May telecommute (hybrid).

Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $142,600 per year

Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $150,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To optimise the bank's capital structure to support its growth objectives, manage risk exposure, and comply with regulatory requirements by analysis of bank's capital position, development of capital allocation strategies, and ensuring that the bank maintains adequate capital levels under various economic scenarios.  

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of strategies to manage the bank's capital position, including setting of capital targets, development of capital plans, and monitoring of capital adequacy.
  • Optimisation of the bank's capital structure to support the bank's growth and profitability objectives, including management of the bank's exposure to regulatory capital requirements.
  • Allocation of capital to business units and projects based on risk-adjusted returns and other financial metrics.
  • Preparation and provision of regular reports on the bank's capital position, capital allocation decisions, and stress testing results to senior colleagues, risk committees, and regulatory authorities, and effective communication of capital management strategies and risk considerations to relevant stakeholders.
