Purpose of the role

To develop strategic infrastructure requirements, onboard current model suite & new quantitative model methodologies, redevelop models based on monitoring, IVU feedback and business changes and perform validation process. 

Accountabilities

  • Own the model execution activity chain, and support on re-development across a broad range of revenue, cost and Balance Sheet models across business lines.
  • Engage with numerous teams such as Quantitative Analytics, Front Office, Risk, Treasury, Model validation, etc. to ensure a robust model development, execution and governance process
  • Liaise with various internal teams to source the data needed to run the models, and ensure the data available is fully fit for purpose. Assist in the development of a stress testing data quality process and monitoring framework
  • High quality and timely production/ updates of model documentation, closure of remediation actions raised by the validation team
  • Review the model output to analyze and assess the drivers of the results, and whether the results are in line with reasonable expectations given the consumed scenarios, product portfolio and business strategy
  • Develop presentation packs that explain the model output, key drivers of the results, sensitivity to key variables, and propose/ recommend overlays to the output where appropriate
  • Focus on periodic evaluation of the model and where appropriate, propose recalibration/re-development of the model
  • Develop robust internal controls including policies, procedures, guidelines and checklists
  • The role requires significant analytical and technical skills and evaluative judgement in order determine appropriate model methodologies but also to determine the right balance between model sophistication and practical application/understanding by stakeholders.

Analyst Expectations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound understanding of financial statement analysis
  • Good understanding of financial markets and relationships with major macroeconomic variables
  • Experience in building and maintenance of financial models on MS Excel, and the ability to crunch numbers from large datasets and produce actionable insights/analytics
  • Robust analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with multiple teams to drive business outcomes
  • Post-graduate degree or equivalent in Finance / Accounting. Candidates with CFA/FRM charters are desirable but this is not a mandate
  • Prior experience in developing / execution of stress testing models in the banking industry
  • Understanding of key model risk management principles prescribed by global regulators
  • Hands-on experience in using tools such as Python, Alteryx, Tableau or Qlikview is desirable but not a mandate
