As a Barclays Senior Reliability Engineer, you will use a hybrid of development and operate skills to work across disciplines by applying software engineering principles to eliminate repeated manual effort (Toil) and create automated, scalable, and reliable services. This is an opportunity for you to contribute to the establishment of a SRE practice/discipline within Corporate GTSM and help to drive the agenda throughout the department whilst helping the wider team objectives.

What will you be doing?
•    Contributing to the establishment of a SRE practice within FICC Risk & Pricing GTSM & help to drive the agenda throughout the department whilst supporting the wider team
•    Helping to reduce TTR (Time to Recover) throughout the department and improve stability
•    Supporting to drive the agenda throughout the department whilst helping the wider team objectives
•    Taking ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do
•    Being consistently excellent at all we do and help to drive this mindset throughout the department – Make everything we touch better
•    Being responsible for solving problems with an engineering mindset
•    Challenging others to achieve the right solution for clients

What we’re looking for:
•    Extensive years of experience in a Production support / Trade floor support role / SRE Role
•    Knowledge of cloud (private and public), containerization, virtualization, networking, operating systems and database technologies
•    Scripting knowledge in any of the technologies like Python, java or shell/perl
•    Good technical ability, demonstrating competency in at least one of the following: .NET, Java or Python

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Experience of implementing observability and monitoring, ideally including Elastic, Geneous ITRS and Grafana
•    Architectural knowledge and engineering focus on building high availability systems
•    Familiarity with messaging platforms – Solace/MQ
•    ITIL knowledge and knowledge on Risk and Pricing

Our Prague office is based in the financial centre of Prague.  We are part of the Operations and Technology Division, and as such, we try our best to stay at the top of our technological game. However, the technology itself is not the most important thing.
