Hybrid Working 

Structured hybrid role:    
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

Introduction:

o    The role requires an experienced, high calibre Designer with good functional, technical skills and product knowledge to work with business stakeholders, solution designers, testers and developers to help deliver change in agreed time, quality and cost parameters.  
o    The role requires to guide Designers, developers to continuously improve in the Programme by disseminating own knowledge within the programme team, allowing others to increase their contribution, and actively contributing to future strategy
o    The role requires understanding of the technology landscape in which the Clearing systems operates, to identify impacts on other systems and communicate effectively with those programmes to support delivery of required outcomes.
o    To translate business requirements into technical requirements, identifying any gaps in end to end flow
o    The role requires a level of technical expertise, knowledge of current best practice and industry trends so as to act as a technical point of reference
o    The role requires ability to lead third line support in investigating production issues and providing resolution.

What will you be doing?

o    Develop a design that meets the requirement specifications by using best practices.
o    Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders, business analysts, solution designers, etc. to understand the requirements and convert them into a technical design. Liaise with technical delivery managers, keeping them updated on progress against milestones, risks and issues.
o    Understand and Adhere to standards already laid out.
o    Manage Design tasks by efficiently to deliver demanding timescales and deadlines.
o    Plan Live Implementation/Deployment activities.
o    Able to peer review design, SQLs and code. 
o    Maintain the product design, ensuring quality and integrity throughout the development lifecycle with minimal post Live issues.
o    Participate in requirement gathering / component impact assessment of PWR’s (provide support to Product engineers to complete above).
o    Planning technical implementation, ensuring that the integrity of live operations will be maintained.
o    Collaborate with the application support / service teams to ensure smooth transition of applications into their BAU environments.
o    Ensuring that all engineering reviews are completed and the introduction of change into the Production environment follows agreed governance processes
o    Retain accountability for the product components and interface links with other applications

What we’re looking for:

•    Experience in designing performant and scalable micro services 
•    Exposure and design experience of client facing web based portal
•    Delivery and Continuous Improvement of a true Micro-Service Architecture
•    SDLC and agile methodology project delivery awareness
•    Participate in planning, analysis and design sessions for new features to be developed.
•    The candidate must be able to work closely with business analysts to take a business requirement through to technical design and coding.
•    The candidate must have a level of technical expertise, knowledge of current best practice and industry trends so as to act as a technical point of reference
•    The candidate must be able to lead and support 3rd line support in investigating production issues and providing resolution.
•    The candidate will be required to support Test team by reviewing Test cases and Test evidences.
•    Provide support to the test team so that they can test the features developed by the candidate.
•    Act as a guarantor of the Programme Design and Delivery functions to ensure quality output in line with business requirements
•    Drive Continuous Improvement in the Programme by disseminating own knowledge within the programme team, allowing others to increase their contribution, and actively contributing to future strategy
•    Use understanding of the technology landscape in which the Clearing systems operates, to identify impacts on other systems and communicate effectively with those programmes to support delivery of required outcomes

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Strong expertise in object oriented programming language, including Core-Java, Oracle/SQL, Spring Framework, Apache Camel, Active MQ etc
•    Strong expertise in working on micro-service architecture.
•    Strong expertise in designing for enterprise scale applications 
•    Strong expertise in Design Patterns(Structural and Creational).
•    Should be able to review design and code.
•    Should be able to understand production environment and plan changes.
•    Extensive knowledge of UK Cheque Clearing and Cheque Imaging scheme and industry processes, 
•    Experience in design and development of large systems supported by multiple different technologies
•    Ability to manage competing priorities and to deliver to demanding timescales and deadlines
•    Minimum education qualification-Graduate
•    Build languages such as Gradle with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
•    Developing and integration with Restful web services
•    Understanding of Barclays Clearing Hub environments, aPaaS platforms, applications clients and monitoring solution. 
•    Application support and maintenance experience
•    Corporate Banking domain knowledge beyond Cheques desirable.
•    Experienced practitioner in Jira and Confluence
•    Experience of Cloud Technologies e.g. Redhat/Openshift. V4
