Explore locationJoin us as an Automation Tester at Barclays where you will spearhead the evolution of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines, driving innovation and operational excellence. To be successful as an Automation Tester, you should have experience with:
Strong hands-on experience in Core Java and automation development
Proven expertise in Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, and Cucumber (BDD)
Experience with BDD frameworks and Gherkin scripting
Hands-on experience with Maven and dependency management
Strong understanding of Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC) and defect management processes
Good knowledge of Oracle- SQL and ability to validate backend data
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using industry best practices
Implement BDD-based test automation using tools such as Cucumber and Gherkin
Develop and execute automated test scripts for project releases independently.
Work closely with developers, product owners, and QA teams to ensure high-quality releases
Contribute to test strategy, planning, estimation, and execution
Perform defect analysis, debugging, and root cause identification
Drive continuous improvement in test coverage, execution efficiency, and framework scalability
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Experience in banking and payments domain, with hands-on exposure to transaction processing systems
Familiarity with ISO 20022 SWIFT messaging standards (e.g., PACS, PAIN), Payment Scheme such as Faster Payment etc.
Basic working knowledge of Unix/Linux commands
Hands-on experience with web services and APIs (SOAP, REST, Microservices) using Spring framework
Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices, including tools such as Jenkins and version control systems like Git
Awareness of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitLab Duo, GitHub Copilot)
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across global teams
Ability to manage risks, dependencies, and timelines in a fast-paced delivery environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The role is based out of Pune.
Purpose of the role
To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability.
