Join us as a Salesforce Technical Lead AVP at Barclays, where you will spearhead the evolution of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines, driving innovation and operational excellence. You will harness cutting-edge technology to build and manage robust, scalable and secure infrastructure, ensuring seamless delivery of our digital solutions.  

To be successful as a Salesforce Technical Lead AVP, you should have experience with:

1. Solution Design & Architecture

  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs using Apex, LWC, and Salesforce configuration.
    Produce design artifacts such as data models, sequence diagrams, and integration patterns while adhering to platform best practices and guardrails.

2. Salesforce Development

  • Build and maintain Apex Classes, Triggers, Batch/Queueable Apex, Lightning Web Components, Aura Components, and APIs.
    Implement reusable, bulkified code with strong error handling, governor limit awareness, and full CRUD/FLS compliance.

3. Configuration & Customization

  • Configure Salesforce (Objects, Flows, Validation Rules, Sharing Model, Profiles, Permission Sets).
    Prioritize declarative automation (Flows, OmniStudio, Process Automation) and use custom code only where required.

4. Integrations

  • Build and maintain integrations using REST, SOAP, Platform Events, External Objects, and middleware patterns.
    Troubleshoot and optimize integration performance across enterprise systems.

5. DevOps & Release Management

  • Work within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Git), automate builds, tests, and deployments, and maintain 2GP packaging strategies.
    Ensure smooth deployments with runbooks, deployment plans, and post‑production monitoring.

6. Data Management

  • Use Data Loader, SOQL/SOSL, and security controls for data migration, backups, and testing.

7. Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Develop and execute unit, functional, and automated test scripts ensuring code coverage and quality compliance.

8. Compliance & Governance

  • Enforce secure coding, least‑privilege access, FLS/CRUD, and change management controls in line with enterprise and regulatory standards.

9. Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor junior developers, lead code reviews, and contribute to engineering best practices and communities of practice.
    Work in Agile teams and drive continuous improvement and developer productivity.

10. Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience with Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, or Financial Services Cloud.
  • Hands‑on experience with automation using Flows, OmniStudio (OmniScripts, Integration Procedures), and DataRaptors.
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce security including Sharing, Profiles, Permission Sets, and OAuth flows.

11. Development & DevOps

  • Experience using Git, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, and automated testing frameworks.
    Experience building modular Salesforce packages (1GP/2GP).

12. Integration Experience

  • REST/SOAP integrations, External Services, Platform Events, and event‑driven architecture.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.

  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.

  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.

  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.

  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
