Join us a Senior Java Developer at Barclays where you’ll design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

To be successful as a Senior Java Developer, where you should have experience with:

  • Experience in Java/J2EE based enterprise applications

  • Experience in Design/Development of highly scalable, available, large scale, monolith banking applications.

  • The candidate must demonstrate excellent software development skills in Java/J2EE technologies.

  • Experience with open source technologies, framework, platform and tools

  • Experience in web services(REST) and XML technologies

  • Experience in Database Technologies.

  • Experience in Agile software Development

  • Has skills to Orchestrate release workflow and implement CI/CD pipe line using TeamCity , bitbucket , Docker , Kubernetes, Jenkins

  • Knowledge of BDD methodologies and Technologies like cucumber, test automation using java

  • Experience in Development and monitoring tools Eg IntelliJ, AppDynamics , Git, putty

  • Hands on in Unix commands

  • Provide engineering execution excellence, as well as technical vision and direction, to ensure the engineering team is aligned with the strategy of the bank.

  • Mentor and coach junior developers to improve their technical skills
    Conduct code reviews to ensure the high quality code and adherence to best engineering practices.

  • Actively participate in technical solutions and provide end to end ownership of the technology solutions delivered to meet requirements to realize both functional  and non-functional capabilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner

  • Work closely with business analyst, architects and other stakeholders to understand and develop the solution

  • Setting coding standards best practices and architectural guidelines

  • Ensure robust testing to maintain quality

Purpose of the role

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
