Hybrid Working

Structured hybrid role:    
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction:

This role is a hands-on test engineering role within the Permissions platform team.  The Senior Test Engineer is a high-performing engineer who designs, builds and executes comprehensive and robust tests to support a centralised, secure, scalable and efficient platform to enable permissions, personas and profiles as new capabilities across the bank’s digital landscape. The Platform realises business benefits through simplification and enablement of revenue generation through building new capabilities to embed across all digital journeys


What will you be doing?

•    Collaborate in the design, build and execution of a tests to validate the security, scalability and efficiency of the Permissions platform.
•    Apply automation and modern test methods across the engineering lifecycle to increase coverage and quality and reduce manual effort  
•    Coach, collaborate and facilitate colleagues and engineers to apply tests across the platform, following agile software development principles.
•    Ensure the highest levels of platform security and compliance.
•    Optimise platform performance and efficiency.
•    Provide feedback and action activities to mature and improve operations and processes within the team and more broadly across the function. 


What we’re looking for:

•    Hands-on tester engineering team member, who contributes to fostering collaboration and demonstrating excellence through delivery.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with people from both technical and non-technical backgrounds and with people across the organisation.
•    Understanding and interest in IAM technologies, capabilities and platform engineering principles.
•    Attention to detail and rigour in testing to create, record and replicate issues that may affect the stability or performance of the IAM platform
•    A passion for learning and obtaining new knowledge and sharing with colleagues

•    Hands-on experience in creating, managing and executing automated test routines and scripts
•    Experience of testing across the full development, implementation and operational lifecycle with appropriate corresponding methodologies e.g. TDD, BDD, SBE, ATDD
•    Testing across UI, API and Data Integrations layer and connectors
•    Demonstrable experience and knowledge in fault finding, root cause analysis, and participation in remediation implementation 
•    Creation and management of synthetic testing data

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Experience with Continuous Integration tools and source code repositories.
•    Test tooling: Java, Selenium, Cucumber, Karate, BrowserStack, JUnit, Jmeter, Gremlin, Moquito
•    Test type coverage: Stress, load, spike, soak, volume, breakpoint, capacity
•    Experience with securing testing tools and Penetration testng - Nessus
