To be successful as Software Engineer you should have experience with:

•    Practical hands-on skills across a range of development technologies and languages - Core Java and Python.
•    Proven DevOps Experience, strong knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins and GitLab).
•    Expert background in software engineering, architecture, operations and product engineering
•    Experience in the creation of scalable, reliable, secure distributed systems – ideally including 
ü    experience of Cloud (AWS, Google), 
ü    container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker), 
ü    GenAI (OpenAI, Gemini, Eagle AI) and 
ü    orchestration between multiple components (Ansible, Terraform).
•    Outstanding relationship & stakeholder management skills
•    Highly articulate and effective communicator – both in technical and business language; excellent verbal and written communication skills 
•    Creating assessment approaches to identify emerging technologies and companies of relevance
•    Measuring the value of different approaches to technical problems

•    Experience in strategy & architecture roles that have had broad applicability across financial services organisations
•    Experience in deep technical engagements to design and deliver positive outcomes in complex systems engineering
•    Conversant in diverse financial services areas
•    A thought leader on both contemporary and legacy technology and engineering practices and design patterns

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
