Hybrid Working

Structured hybrid role:    
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction:

The role is for AWS ETL Developer within Barclays UK Risk, Finance and Treasury and is a permanent position. The individual will form part of a team comprising of more than 10 people and will focus on Technical Deliveries using AWS ETL Solution. The individual should understand business requirement and converting into technical artefacts. He/She should contribute in development/enhancement as per the application roadmap.

The role played by the individual will ensure that Barclays complies with the BCBS 239 principles and meets regulatory requirement. 

What will you be doing?

•    Responsible for End to End Application development, should be conversant with Technology Architecture governance.
•    Collaborating with analysts, architects and designers to understand the architecture vision and functional/ technical requirements and creating solution designs covering key technology components.
•    Should be able to co-ordinate between build team / testing teams,/ supporting teams where needed during delivery.
•    Knowledge of CICD pipeline.
•    Involve in AWS Glue / DBT application development, testing and production implementation
•    Creating Technical Specification for work undertaken.
•    Good understanding of Data warehousing concepts and ETL Concepts
•    Understanding of AWS and Hadoop platform
•    Regular review & audit of various codes and design patterns to meet RFT technology standards
•    Ability to learn and adapt without supervision, able to solve problems creatively
.

What we’re looking for:

•    To be part of an agile team of developers in credit risk regulatory and compliance data delivery projects with overall experience of 6-9 years out of which 5 to 7 of experience in AWS ETL Tools (Glue/DBT).
•    AWS ETL Development hands on experience is a must.
•    Sound knowledge of Amazon services like S3 / Athena / Step Function / Lake Formation / Service Catalog.
•    Exposure to CI/CD and Service First.
•    Knowledge in Hadoop technologies, such as HDFS/Hive/Impala.
•    Sound knowledge of scripting language / RDBMS  and SQL.
•    Be hands-on in development, code reviews, unit testing and Implementation procedures.
•    Expertise in optimizing, refining and performance tuning applications, script and processes.
•    Liaising and working closely with the peers within and outside of the team, keeping stakeholders updated on progress against milestones.
•    Highlight and managing risks and issues via effective controls and standard Barclays processes
•    Enhance and improve the application development capability within the team, via automation and innovation.
•    Excellent communication skills via written and verbal mechanisms, particularly in communicating to both technical and non-technical audiences across different geographies via face-to-face, telephone and remote tools (e.g. Webex,MS Teams).  Experience in using these skills to train internal customers/users highly desirable.
•    Exposure in Performance Tuning/ Investigations.
•    Experience in jobs scheduling tools like Tivoli  or Event Bridge or air flow.
•    Knowledge of coding best practice and experience of code optimization to speed processes.
•    Experience in delivery change/continuous improvement in a data/technical capacity.
•    Be well organized with a healthy sense of delivery, and able to set, communicate, and meet deadlines and milestones.
•    Familiar with Agile methodologies.

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Hands-on and Very good knowledge on AWS – Glue / DBT
•    Good understanding of Hadoop, Python, Shell Scripting
•    Excellent working knowledge of AWS Cloud architecture
•    Knowledge of AWS and cloud solutions, AWS certification is desirable.
•    The ability to exhibit deep technical understanding conveyed through crisp solution design walkthroughs.
•    Hands-on SQL Knowledge (Teradata – DB / Athena ) is preferred
•    Understanding of Big Data Technologies
•    Cloudera, Hadoop, Spark, Scala
•    Scheduling tool 
•    Linux/Unix Shell scripting
•    DBMS and SQL
•    Data warehousing Concepts


•    Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other analytical field
•    6+ years’ experience working in Application Development
•    Hands-on application development/Infra management experience in AWS
•    Ability to work independently on all aspects of the development/testing lifecycle
•    Basic Teradata Understanding
•    Unix Scripting
