Embark your transformative journey with Barclays Windows server engineering lead, you’ll shape the direction of our development/automation, Regression testing/Deployment ensuring our technological approaches are both innovative and relevant in Pune.Candidate to design, develop and improve software, utilizing various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. With a focus on Business deliveries scalability, security, and performance, you’ll work closely with other regional engineering leads and global engineering manager.

The position demands strong collaboration skills with both executives and cross-functional teams, as well as the capability to communicate technical and business concepts to diverse audiences.This role provides the opportunity to work across multiple domains and products and drive key architecture decisions, development for various GTIS-CTO driven Technology initiative.

To be successful as a Windows server engineering lead, you should have experience with:

  • Technical Leadership: Proven engineering lead experience within a global team. Able to demonstrate technical expertise and ability to make decisions both tactically and strategically, solve problems and continuously improve teams and product offerings. Can lead transformational journeys.

  • Team Management: Experience of managing large teams of varying capabilities from early careers to expert engineers. A clear communicator that can inspire and motivate a team. Can demonstrate examples of good collaboration and stakeholder management within a global context.  

  • Technical Expertise: Expert level capability in Windows Server. Experience of configuration management tooling, IaC and scripting languages.

  • Automation and IaC: Experience of working with Git-based repository management systems and automation tooling. Can demonstrate an engineering first mindset and provide examples of automation delivery that improve efficiency and customer value.

  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of Windows server engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance product offerings that meet business needs.

  • Risk Management: Proactively Identifies and mitigate risks that can negatively impact our products and business goals.

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience: Extensive experience in a Windows engineering lead role, proficiency in operating systems, automation and IaC.

  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams, with strong mentoring and coaching skills.

  • Technical Skills: Expertise in Windows Server operating systems, automation tools, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), and coding languages (e.g. Ansible, PowerShell, Perl scripting).

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in Microsoft technologies, automation, and project management are a plus.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure.  Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response. 

Accountabilities

  • Build Engineering:  Development, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Including the identification of the appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements.
  • Incident Management: Monitoring of IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use of data to drive down mean time to resolution.
  • Automation:  Development and implementation of automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
  • Security: Implementation of a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats, including protection of hardware, software, and data from unauthorised access.
  • Teamwork:  Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives via a data driven approach.
  • Learning: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
