Sr ETL Developer, AVP

What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Sr ETL Developer, AVP in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):

• Design, develop and operate a data lake platform using Python, Apache Spark, Hadoop, Sqoop, Hive, PIG and SQL to build various ETL analytics and data quality and risk control components.

• Create high level design documents and exhaustive data maps to translate requirements to AbInitio Graph or Plan.

• Partner with business users, business analyst and technology teams to comprehend data on boarding requirements to load data in Market Risk Strategic Platforms.

• Develop AbInitio Graph, Plan and Unix shell scripts.

• Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing and troubleshoot various problems/errors encountered during various phases for project development life cycles.

• Utilize an in-depth knowledge of AbInitio products such as Continuous Flow, Express It, Query It, Metadata Hub, Control Center etc., as well as concepts of Hadoop, Kafka and Messaging Queue.

• Engage with users explaining existing functionality and offer potential solutions.

• Manage a team of three (3) junior and mid-level software developers.

• May telecommute.

Minimum Salary: $189,592 per year

Maximum Salary: $195,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
