·Accountability for Fraud Analytics for Barclays US Consumer Bank. Product coverage for credit cards, Deposits and Loans

·Key role as part of the leadership team for USCB Fraud group – with interaction at senior levels of the organization, providing thought leadership and a transformation mind-set that ensures Barclays remains an industry leader in the Fraud space.

·Accountable Executive for USCB Fraud Analytics performance, and Accountable for all Fraud Models including AI/ML fraud models for USCB.

·Scope & remit to transform Analytics at Barclays, with a contemporary view of Fraud integration & fusion with Credit Risk, Financial Crime, Cyber Security and customer facing Fraud Operations teams.

·Accountable for leveraging analytics techniques to develop data-driven fraud prevention and detection solutions. Identify opportunities to inject new data signals and deploy new machine learning models to sharpen fraud detection and customer experience.

·Accountable for complying to legal and regulatory requirements, including adherence to market and Association-specific mandates.

·Be constantly abreast of fraud trends,  threats, analytical techniques and drive proactively to maintain appropriate people and systems capabilities to be among market leaders in loss performance and customer experience.

·Maintain awareness and engagement in future fraud technologies, data integration and practices.

·Maintain a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different Fraud systems and tools, theories and practices relevant to multiple disciplines or a fast-changing environment.

·Managing function which has a sizeable impact on the Bank from a revenue perspective as well strategic impact on the business unit finances.

·This position will interact regularly with senior leaders across the Consumer Banking and Payments teams, as well as occasional interaction with external stakeholders (government regulators, industry forums

·Leads a team of 30 colleagues, focused on transforming our Fraud Analytics organization

Purpose of the role

To use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification, collection, extraction of data from various sources, including internal and external sources.
  • Performing data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation to ensure its quality and suitability for analysis.
  • Development and maintenance of efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing.
  • Design and conduct of statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends, and relationships in the data.
  • Development and implementation of predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data through Data Science.

  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
