Join us as a Business Development Manager in our Private Banking team in The Middle East.

In this role, you will support our Private Bank Business Development team to drive and generate new business opportunities in the region. The team targets the acquisition of High Net Worth (HNW), Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW), and Family Office clients in the Middle East, collaborating closely with dedicated Private Bankers and teams of investment and wealth specialists based in Dubai and globally. This role is based in Dubai.

As a Barclays Business Development Manager (BDM), you will be instrumental in generating new leads and opportunities for the Private Bank, ensuring a sustainable pipeline of future opportunities. You will work with the Global Business Development (BD) team in London and colleagues both locally and globally to identify new client opportunities by leveraging both external and internal data sources. Additionally, you will explore relationships across the business community to develop strategies for pursuing entrepreneurs and business owners immediately pre/post personal liquidity/wealth events.

What you will be doing:

  • Prospect Identification and Origination: Collaborate with the BD team to identify new client opportunities (specifically Ultra High Net Worth Individuals) by leveraging various sources of information and developing strategies to target individuals pre/post M&A transactions or other liquidity/personal wealth events
  • Qualified Lead Generation: Generate new, validated leads on a weekly basis to create a pipeline of opportunities that will convert to clients, who will onboard and fund their accounts within twelve months
  • Prospect Targeting: Work with the BD team to research, contact, and pursue potential future clients of the Private Bank, whether through direct/cold origination or warm introductions/referrals
  • Prospect Triage: Triage approaches from colleagues internally, referring those leads to the most appropriate team within the Private Bank
  • Support the BD Team and Private Bankers in implementing and managing strategies to initiate and develop Barclays Private Bank relationships with new prospects, institutions, and Key Business Introducers/Advisers (KBIs)
  • Support the Global Head of Business Development for Private Bank and local office leaders in implementing a comprehensive business development plan, identifying opportunities with individuals (both externally and internally) and other institutions, deepening existing relationships, and developing strategies to target new ones
  • Research and Analysis: Work independently to process data/research tasks, while also collaborating with the Prospect Intelligence team in London to develop a sustainable strategy for leveraging data/resources to identify opportunities continuously
  • Pipeline Excellence: Collaborate with the BD team and Private Bankers to develop an approach to pipeline management using Salesforce CRM, accurately tracking the source of referrals and how these lead to new prospects and client opportunities
  • Sales Management: Work with the BD team and Sales Management report the progress of the BD team in the origination of new prospects and activity of the team in the local market
  • Act as a representative for the Private Bank Business Development team, broadening and deepening strategic relationships both internally and externally with KBIs

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in origination/business development/client targeting
  • Proven ability to develop new relationships from a cold start
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate investment solutions succinctly and compellingly
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • Organised, methodical, and disciplined in follow-up with new prospects and KBIs

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience working in Banking, Business Development, M&A Origination or Recruitment 
  • Understanding of the Barclays investment proposition and/or Private Banking, Wealth Management, Private Equity or M&A 
  • Keen interest in broader financial markets as well as the macro environment 
  • An awareness of the M&A ecosystem in your chosen location

Purpose of the role

To identify and capitalise on business opportunities, expansion of the customer base, relationship management, and driving of revenue growth.  

Accountabilities

  • Execution of market research and analysis to support the identification of potential opportunities, market trends, and customer needs, to develop strategies for business growth.
  • Identification of leads through various channels such as networking, referrals, cold calling, and attending industry events.
  • Management of existing client relationships to understand their needs and identify opportunities for cross-selling or upselling banking products and services.
  • Development and execution of strategies to acquire new business and expand the customer base, including preparation of proposals, presentations, and negotiation of contracts.
  • Collaboration with product managers, credit analysts, product specialists, operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of products and services to clients.
  • Forecasting of sales targets and tracking progress against goals, including regular reports on business development activities, pipeline status, and sales performance to management.
  • Contribution to the development of business development strategies and initiatives to drive revenue growth and achieve business objectives.
