Explore location1. An experienced financial services lawyer with extensive knowledge of institutional investment research and data/content services gained from acting as a senior advisor to a regulated sell-side or similar institution.
2. Technical expertise with relevant regulations to the production and dissemination of investment research and data/content services is essential. Skillset must include knowledge of the UK and EEA implementation of the Market Abuse Regulation, MIFID II, research compensation/unbundling rules, greenwashing and ESG rating regulations as well as a working familiarity with other applicable global regulations such as FINRA rules, the US Investment Advisers Act, SEBI rules and requirements applicable to provision of investment research across the MENA and APAC regions.
3. Proven ability to provide expert technical and commercially pragmatic legal advice in support of a global business and to take ownership of complex cross-border matters.
4. Must be comfortable working with standard legal documentation relevant to a global investment research business, including research services agreements, commission sharing agreements, trading terms of business, IP/licensing arrangements, intra-group distribution agreements and data vendor agreements.
5. Knowledge of global trading business and relationship between investment research and wider investment banking services is desirable.
Purpose of the role
To ensure that the activities of the business units in the Markets division are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal risk associated with these activities.
