Explore locationJoin us as a Senior Sanctions Manager at Barclays within our Sanctions Advisory Team in London. Aligned to the Investment bank, this team consists of policy and subject matter experts who are dedicated to partnering with the business and delivering expert second line guidance to ensure mutual confidence in the management of their sanctions risk.
As a Senior Sanctions Manager, you will assist the Head of Sanctions for the Investment Bank Advisory Team in supporting the Corporate business by; providing guidance and input into the design and effectiveness of the framework adopted for management of sanctions risk; analysing and advising on critical or technically complex business initiatives; building strong partnerships with key business stakeholders; supporting first line of defence operational areas in ensuring compliance with Sanctions Standard, monitoring (and managing where appropriate) controls associated with sanctions and promoting a culture of risk control across the business and Financial Crime.
To be successful in this role you should have;
Excellent working knowledge of OFAC, HMT, EU, UN and other jurisdictional sanctions laws, regulators, regulatory expectations and industry best practice,
Experience recently working at a financial institution within a sanctions advisory role, including demonstrable understanding of controls operated within businesses to comply with sanctions obligations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
A background or experience in Sanctions and Export Controls as applied to Trade Finance
Experience working with a Investment Bank products and services
A qualification related to compliance such as ICA or ACAMS

Purpose of the role
To identify and conduct the appropriate analysis and due diligence on Sanctions alerts to ensure the appropriate action is taken against customers and payment activity as defined by the Sanctions Standards and Restricted Activity Matrix, ensuring that the organisation adheres to all applicable sanction’s laws and regulations and internal governance, such that client accounts are not held and transactions are not processed in breach of application laws and regulations.
