Join us as a Senior Payments Resilience Manager at Barclays where you will help shape the future of banking by designing and implementing contingency solutions, enhancing operational processes, and ensuring high‑quality, rapid responses to customer‑impacting events. You will be accountable for uplifting the resilience of Barclays UK's Payments Important Business Services (IBS) by working closely with technology and payments product teams to put in place measures which prevent incidents from occurring and through the development of new processes and solutions which enable faster, more effective customer remediation post incident.
To be successful as a Senior Payments Resilience Manager, you should have:
- Operational leadership experience, preferably in Payments or Technology and experience working with Technology and Operations stakeholders across a matrix organisation.
- Proven ability to lead multi‑layered teams (including direct reports) in a high‑pressure operational environment.
- Excellent analytical capability to support decision‑making and incident assessment.
- Experience of developing requirements for new products, features, or propositions and working in an Agile methodology of seeing them through to delivery.
- Ability to shape the teams delivery agenda, prioritising effectively and ensuring that stakeholders across Resilience functions, Technology Teams and Communications teams have input into the agenda are a clear about our plans.
- This role sits within a Payments product team and you will need considerable PowerPoint skills to run to influence and explain plans to stakeholders. You will also need to provide content for multiple group resilience senior meetings that take place across the bank.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Exposure to UK payment schemes (FPS, CHAPS, Bacs, SEPA, Open Banking). Practical understanding of payments infrastructure
- Experience with regulatory engagement relating to resilience, incidents or operational risk.
- Experience of operational resilience, including IBS, impact tolerances and scenario testing.

Purpose of the role
To manage and develop existing and new products and/or services; and where applicable, ownership of related customer and colleague journeys, develops the product strategy, drive change through Barclays execution teams, make key decisions in the product lifecycle and own associated outcomes for customers, colleagues and the bank, achieved through appropriate service level agreements, regulatory compliance, risk management and controls.
Accountabilities
- Development of customer level strategies & solutions that are tailored to customers’ needs.
- Subject Matter Expert in the applicable Product/Proposition team and be able to confidently guide and advise stakeholders at all levels in the Bank on the application of existing and new products/propositions and related customer and colleague journeys.
- Development of product propositions, and/or service strategy, define the priorities for delivering the outcomes needed to deliver the strategy and lead execution of the priorities.
- Development of different commercial and business models through a considerable understanding of the financial drivers of the P&L for the relevant segment/ proposition/ journey.
- Evaluation of the technical feasibility, legal compliance, and potential risks associated with the development and launch of the new product.
- Monitoring of market trends and analysis feedback from internal employees and target customers through prototypes, user testing sessions, and beta programs to identify areas for improvement to refine the product / process before launch.
- Management of comprehensive launch plans and technical deployments for products that establish rollout timelines, marketing strategies, training initiatives and communication channels to promote the launch new products effectively.
- Monitoring of key metrics such as adoption rates, usage patterns, customer satisfaction (including complaints), and revenue generation to assess the product's performance against set goals.
