To take ownership of key deliverables within the Product Governance book of work and develop subject matter knowledge such that businesses develop a dependency and recognize the role holder as an expert and solutions driven colleague. Product Governance related meeting packs (Product Governance Oversight Forum, Retail Distribution Governance Meeting, Retail Distribution Forum, Product Suitability Forums) and updates to escalation bodies (BBPLC Control Committee, Markets Execution Control Committee, BE Markets Control Forum).

To be a successful Product Governance you should have experience with:

  • Take ownership of controls and key processes.

  • Escalate concerns and issues.

  • Identify automation opportunities to free up time.

  • Highlight process gaps timely and work on enhancement of controls and processes.

  • Ensure deliverables of the team are met.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Relevant work experience in risk and control function of an Investment Bank’s Markets division.

  • A risk and control mind-set with a strong understanding of Investment Banking Regulations from the perspective of operational implementation.

  • Good exposure to various products in Markets business.

  • Very good attention to details and structured approach to handle activities.

  • Able to support or oversee automation/programming aspects taking place within the teams.

  • Comfortable with analysing data and problem solving.

  • Demonstrates initiative and confidence in collaborative team work.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The job location of this role is Mumbai.

Purpose of the role

To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.  

Accountabilities

  • Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
  • Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritized by its severity to disrupt bank operations.
  • Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
  • Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.
  • Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.
