Join Barclays as the US Payroll Manager VP, where you'll have the chance to lead and elevate a high‑performing payroll organization supporting colleagues across the US, Canada, and Brazil. You’ll guide teams in delivering an accurate, timely, compliant, and resilient payroll service that consistently meets the highest operational standards. In this role, you’ll shape and oversee payroll processes to deliver compensation spanning base pay, incentive programs, global mobility, and business‑travel‑related taxation. You’ll drive excellence across all payment processes while championing innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

To be successful as an US Payroll Manager VP, you should have:

  • Leading end‑to‑end payroll activities and managing dispersed teams in large, multi‑faceted organizations, preferably within financial services (11,000 colleagues on payroll)

  • Managing global payroll ecosystems, platforms, and related integrations – specifically, ADP EV6,WFN and Smart Compliance, Workday HCM, Time, Absence & Payroll modules, to streamline operations, improve data accuracy and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across organizational structures

  • Overseeing payroll legislation, tax, financial, and regulatory controls; governance; risk management; and HR policy, including IRS/CRA requirements and other key payroll submissions

Other highly valued skills and experience include:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or equivalent knowledge of Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements and typical internal audit standards

  • Experience with Agile project management, driving cross‑functional collaboration, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement to enhance payroll system implementations and process optimization

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data validation, and macro‑based automation to support detailed payroll analysis and reporting

This role is based in New York, NY.

Minimum Salary: $110,000

Maximum Salary: $190,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate above information includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To manage payroll functions, including calculating employee pay, withholding taxes, and any other deductions, as well as maintaining accurate payroll records for the business. 

Accountabilities

  • Processing of payroll for hourly, salaried, and commissioned employees, calculating tax and other contributions, withholding, and paying out as appropriate.
  • Employee payroll record administration and troubleshooting.
  • Guidance and support to employees on all payroll matters, including queries related to calculations of salaries and wages, overtime, bonuses, and commissions.
  • Compliance related statutory filings including the management of the reply to Government institution notices related to all Statutory obligations.
  • Payroll statutory reporting and filing including liaison with relevant local tax authorities.
