The aim of this role is to provide assurance to the Head of BUK Risk Measurement and Barclays Financial Assistance (BFA) Risk on compliance to, and embedment of, Group Risk Policies and Standards, Risk Frameworks, and Regulatory compliant solutions through appropriate and independent oversight. Role requires to make lending decisions on behalf of the bank to UK Corporate Banking customers which are in line with the appetite of the bank. In order to do this you need to demonstrate excellent judgement in risk assessment when deciding which deals are supportable and which are not, acting within delegated discretion, or recommending to appropriate sanctioning level where required.”

To be successful as a Senior Analyst you should have experience with:

  • Strong appreciation of general accounting principles, financial statement analysis, financial models and modelling techniques.

  • Proven experience in Corporate Banking credit sanctioning process;

  • Transaction experience, which could include leveraged finance and corporate facilities;

  • Strong commercial and credit judgement;

  • Strong knowledge across a wide range of Corporate Banking products including trade financing, derivative products, documentation.

  • Ability to handle a significant volume of data and pull out the important aspects, summarise and draw conclusions.

  • Must be decisive and a clear communicator both written and oral.

  • Must be thorough and accurate at all times.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Postgraduate with MBA or Chartered Accountants

  • Additional Professional Certifications e.g. FRM, CFA, etc.

Purpose of the role

To independently assess and make credit decisions for complex financing transactions within the LevFin, SLF, and Hedge Funds sectors, ensuring alignment with the bank's credit risk appetite and regulatory requirements and contribute to the development and implementation of credit risk policies and procedures for the Specialised Sector.

Accountabilities

  • Analysis of complex financial information and business models of LevFin, SLF, and Hedge Fund clients to assess their creditworthiness, repayment capacity, and potential risks.
  • Monitoring of the performance of the LevFin, SLF, and Hedge Fund portfolio, identifying and reporting early warning signs of potential credit deterioration.
  • Evaluation of the risk profile of each application considering factors like industry trends, borrower financials, collateral, and market conditions.
  • Development and implementation of strategies to mitigate identified credit risks and optimise portfolio performance.
