As part of Barclays overall strategy and simplification, in January 2025 we announced the completion of the sale of the Consumer Bank Europe (CBE) Business in Germany to the BAWAG Group.  In line with our commitments as part of the sale agreement, Barclays will continue to run Cards, Payments and other Platforms for the separated business through a series of Transitional Services Agreements (TSA’s) for up to a 27month period. 

The Cards Platform Migration Director will be recruited into CBP (Consumer Banking & Payments) Technology to lead on all Technology aspects of the TSA provision and to work with BAWAG counterparts to plan and execute the migration to BAWAG platforms.  On completion of the migration the role holder will be responsible for decommissioning all CBE Technology Platforms hosted by Barclays and for safe disposal of BAWAG data.

  • This role will be to lead the delivery of Technology Services for BAWAG that are being provided by Barclays under the Transitional Services Agreements (TSA’s). 
  • The role holder will be accountable for delivering Portfolio Change Delivery (PCD) to BAWAG and will chair all governance and planning meetings with BAWAG to ensure that we are meeting our obligations for PCD. 
  • In support of PCD, the role holder will manage all estimating and impact assessments for BAWAG, will oversee delivery and reporting to BAWAG and on a monthly basis will ensure that billing under the TSA is accurate and in line with agreed project spend. 
  • In addition, the role holder will lead the separation of the CBE / BAWAG business from Barclays infrastructure and the migration off the Application Support TSA.  This will include leading the cards platform engineering teams to work through product and data mapping with BAWAG and to delivery data migration in line with Barclays obligations under the TSA. 
  • The role holder will ensure that all BAWAG specific platforms are decommissioned, that BAWAG data is deleted in line with legal data ownership and that all Service ownership for ongoing services is transferred to BAWAG.
  • The role holder will be accountable for working with other TC’s in Barclays to ensure that on completion of TSA’s that planning is made to deliver cost savings through reduction in demand or to demonstrate where capacity has been reallocated.
  • They will be a team leader with approximately 20 DRs and a wider team of circa 40 non directs.

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of technology strategies, ensuring technology investments are enablers for business success – i.e. improve efficiency, support growth, innovation, and risk management.
  • Strategic leadership to the business on all technology matters, working with subject matter experts across the Group Technology organisation, such as infrastructure, service management and architecture.  .
  • Alignment to global data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and privacy, encouraging data-driven decision making by leveraging data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to extract insights and inform business strategies.
  • Implementation of technology practices according to security, compliance and regulatory requirements, and is kept current. Implementation of work in accordance with policies and controls and are actively managing risks.  .
  • Digital transformation/change projects, programmes and initiatives, modernising legacy systems new and enhanced digital solutions to enable customers, clients and colleagues.   .
  • Management of the technology team includes hiring, training, mentoring, and setting and achieving team goals and ensuring that the technology team have the resources and support they need to be successful.
  • Management of the technology budgets, ensuring appropriate prioritisation of resources, ensuring investments in technology support overall business goals, and that costs are optimised, and efficiencies are delivered, where required, ensuring financial risks associated with technology are mitigated.
