Join us as a AI Senior Software Engineer at Barclays, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence. We are on the lookout for ambitious Software Engineers, who are interested to become part of AI Factory Engineering team dedicated to building and maintaining a centralized NVIDIA-powered platform. This team will enable scalable, secure deployment of AI solutions across Quants, CTO, and developer groups, accelerating innovation and operational resilience.

As AI becomes a core enabler of competitive advantage in financial services, this team will serve as the backbone for deploying and operationalizing advanced models, ensuring resilience, performance, and governance across the AI lifecycle. The platform will support use cases ranging from real-time risk modelling, internal LLM development & delivery through to generative AI use cases within Barclays. By establishing a similar capability to other Banks, our department will not only future-proof our infrastructure but also empower teams to innovate faster, and drive measurable business outcomes.

To be successful as a AI Senior Software Engineer, you should have:

  • Programming – either Java, Python, or .NET stack. Knowledge of Golang will be beneficial too
  • Container technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes with its different flavours (native, EKS, OpenShift, Rancher), and related tooling (Helm, ArgoCD, etc.)
  • Public Cloud experience – AWS (ideally), Azure
  • DevOps expertise with CI/CD pipelines and toolset such as GitLab, Artifactory/Nexus, Sonarqube, etc.
  • Infrastructure Automation – Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience with Observability / Monitoring technologies like ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
  • Awareness of current AI / GenAI offerings on the market – LLMs, code assistances, agentic coding, etc.
  • (Ideally) NVIDIA software and hardware stack
  • Accountability, sense of ownership and “Getting job done” mindset

This role will be based in our Prague office.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
