UX/Product Designer

Join us as UX/Product Designer at Barclays, where you'll be embarking on an ambitious programme to modernise and build a new Trading & Sales platform. We are looking for a mid-level Product Designer (UX/UI) who has had experience of designing in data-intensive environments. There will be an emphasis on UI & visual design skills with a focus on developer handover in Figma. Key to the success of the projects will be designing applications that reflect the users’ workflows and interactions and so being open to learning about trading in Front-Office environments is a must. You must be comfortable working directly with users on the desk and quickly grasping business requirements and concepts.

To be successful as a UX/Product Designer, you should have experience with:

•            A portfolio of work that can be presented, demonstrating extensive experience in designing data-rich web applications (dashboards etc)

•            An ability to interact directly with front office users and product owners and can turn their requirements into product designs together with the ability to present designs confidently to senior managers and stakeholders

•            Strong Figma UI design skills (Autolayout, components, prototyping, etc)

Some other highly valued skills may include:

•            Experience of finance or data-driven environments

•            Experience of establishing and working with design systems and design tokens

•            Good technical understanding of how designs are implemented in code (HTML/CSS etc)

This role will be based in our Prague office.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
