Step into the role of Assistant Vice President - Legal Ops at Barclays, where you'll provide first-class support by conducting in-depth due diligence, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and safeguarding our clients and organization with expertise and care.

You will lead and coordinate the execution, streamlining, and automation of operational and process-oriented tasks within the Legal Operations team. You will drive process improvement, manage stakeholder relationships, and enable Legal professionals to focus on high-value activities by centralizing and optimizing routine tasks.

You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role such as:

• Lead the process of obtaining and validating approvals across stakeholders during document negotiation stages, leveraging orchestration tools and AI solutions.
• Oversee coordination of approval processes for various agreement types, ensuring efficiency and compliance.

• Supervise system updates for mergers, ensuring accurate reflection of surviving entities.
• Manage the setup of non-JB Arms AM/AH in relevant systems, optimizing workflows with orchestration tools.
• Oversee post-execution data capture for ISDA and local law equivalents, ensuring data integrity and quality control for downstream Treasury tracking.
• Support Legal Onboarding milestones, including product reviews, regulatory validation, and exception tracking for Jetbridge products.

• Lead data remediation activities (BAU and ad hoc), utilizing process enhancements, document repositories, and AI.
• Oversee bail-in and stay remediation, contributing to CCLT controls redesign and document repository management.

• Identify, evaluate, and implement orchestration tools, process enhancements, and AI solutions to automate and consolidate tasks.
• Collaborate with technology teams to enhance systems and workflows for improved efficiency and accuracy.

• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.
• Experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving accountability for deliverables.
• Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and supporting professional growth.

• Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders, including Legal, Operations, Technology, and senior management.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver results under tight deadlines.

• Experience in leading change initiatives, including process redesign and technology adoption.

• Commitment to maintaining high standards of data quality, compliance, and confidentiality.

Desirable skills sets:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Law, Business, Operations, or related field will be beneficial.
• Experience in legal operations, data management, or process improvement within financial services will be beneficial.
• Prior experience in an AVP or equivalent leadership role preferred.

• An understanding of legal documentation, contract terms, and financial agreements (ISDA, GMRA, CSA, PBAs) will be beneficial.
• Experience with data digitization platforms, orchestration tools, and AI-driven process automation.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data for insights and process improvements.

Purpose of the role

To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution. 

Accountabilities

  • Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
  • Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
  • Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.
  • Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
  • Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.
  • Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Assistant Vice President Expectations
