Join Barclays as a Compliance Delivery Lead (Vice President) and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital compliance landscape. In this role, you will lead the evolution from traditional UI‑centric solutions to AI‑first, intelligence‑driven experiences, enabling “AI for all” across the organisation. You will also play a key role in driving future integration and alignment with the Colleague CIO organisation as part of our broader digital workplace and platform strategy.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to deliver high‑quality, compliant solutions to a global user base. As a senior technology leader, you will own application and integration architecture within the compliance domain, establish engineering standards, and drive best practices for API‑first and end‑to‑end development using a modern technology stack. Delivery will be executed in an agile model, with a strong focus on resilience, security, and regulatory alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise‑grade web, API, and integration solutions within the compliance domain.

  • Own application and integration architecture, driving best practices across the full software development lifecycle.

  • Drive the transition from UI‑led solutions to AI‑enabled and API‑driven experiences, supporting the firm’s “AI for all” strategy.

  • Partner with the Colleague CIO organisation to enable future platform integration and cohesive colleague experiences.

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to translate complex regulatory and business requirements into robust technical solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership across distributed, cross‑functional teams, ensuring high standards of quality, performance, and operational stability.

  • Establish and govern API standards, integration patterns, and engineering best practices across platforms.

What You’ll Bring

  • Deep technical expertise in Java, Spring, Kafka, and RESTful APIs, with hands‑on experience architecting secure, scalable, and compliant solutions.

  • Strong command of API‑first design principles, microservices architecture, and event‑driven systems using asynchronous messaging.

  • In‑depth understanding of web service security and identity protocols, including OAuth, OpenID Connect, and mutual TLS.

  • Proven experience leading teams in high‑pressure environments, resolving production‑critical issues, and ensuring platform resilience and performance.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead code reviews, architecture governance, and mentoring of engineering teams across geographies.

  • Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling such as GitLab, Jenkins, or TeamCity.

  • Strong Agile delivery experience, with a solid working knowledge of Scrum or Kanban methodologies.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and articulate complex technical concepts in clear business terms.

To  lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives. 

Accountabilities

  • Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.

  • Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.

  • Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.

  • Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.

  • Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
