Explore locationJoin us as a Data Engineer-VP at Barclays where you will Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable data engineering solutions supporting business, regulatory, and analytical requirements. Responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines, cloud-native data platforms, data governance, and data integration capabilities while ensuring data quality, security, and operational stability. Collaborate with business, architecture, and technology teams to drive data modernization initiatives, mentor engineers, and deliver strategic outcomes aligned with enterprise objectives. Expertise in cloud technologies (AWS), data warehousing, ETL/ELT, big data frameworks, DevOps, and agile delivery practices is essential.
To be successful as a Data Engineer-VP, you should have experience with (Must have):
AWS Cloud Technologies (DBT, Glue, Athena, S3, Lambda, Iceberg, Data Mesh and cloud-native data platforms)
Data Engineering & Data Warehousing (ETL/ELT, SQL, Python)
DevOps & Software Engineering Practices (GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automation and release management)
Stakeholder & Delivery Leadership (leading data transformation initiatives, regulatory data delivery, mentoring teams, and collaborating with business, architecture and engineering stakeholders)
Some other highly valued skills may include (Nice to have) :
Data Governance & Data Quality Management (Metadata, Data Lineage, Data Controls, Data Stewardship, Data Mesh)
AI & Advanced Analytics (Machine Learning, Generative AI, Prompt Engineering)
Financial Services Domain Knowledge (Credit Risk, Basel 3.1, IFRS9, Stress Testing, Regulatory Reporting)

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.
