Join us as a Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence Engineer at Barclays, responsible for supporting the successful delivery of Location Strategy projects to plan, budget, agreed quality and governance standards. To be successful as a Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence Engineer you should have experience with:

  • Good years of experience in IT with background in Development, Machine Learning, and Data Engineering.
  • Experience in Model Development: Research, design, implement, and optimize machine learning models for specific use cases such as predictive analytics, NLP, computer vision, and recommender systems.
  • Data Preparation: Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and ensure data quality for model training.
  • Deployment: Build and deploy Al/ML solutions into production environments using appropriate tools and frameworks.
  • Should have hands-on experience of NLP/AI/ML tool & technologies – GPT, BERT or other language models.
  • Should have experience in building GenAI applications, RAG based architectures.
  • Knowledge of one of the cloud platforms is must : AWS/AZURE.
  • Strong programming knowledge in Python, Java, Scala, or other languages used to build data pipelines, implement data transformations, and automate data workflows.
  • Strong Experience in building Data Pipelines, ETL, Data Streaming, Orchestration & Data Governance.
  • Working Experience on Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Bricks.
  • Experience in Databases like SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience with Front End Development would be advantageous.
  • Experience Into Data Engineering for the AI.
  • Strong Affinity to stay informed on the latest trends, tools and research in Al and machine learning space .
  • Web service development experience using REST services/APIs, JSON, XML, IVRs, Jenkins, other Cloud Platforms.
  • Experience in setting up DevOps pipelines.

Purpose of the role

To collaborate, nurture and drive group innovation with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the bank stays at the forefront of innovation and adapts to the rapidly changing landscape in financial services and increasing customer expectations. 

Accountabilities

  • Collaboration with a range of stakeholders to develop a portfolio of open innovation and strategic initiatives through experimentation, co-creation, access to innovative technology capabilities, products and services and a global innovation ecosystem.
  • Development and delivery of frameworks, ideation, training and tools to build a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing to enable new and creative ideas/solutions that deliver on the bank’s strategy.
  • Provision of a global platform and curated ecosystem of partners to inform strategy, drive connectivity and new insights.
  • Development of the strategic capabilities and programmes for the bank to deliver on its strategy, supporting the exploration, evaluation and execution of innovation and investment opportunities.
  • Management and coordination between external stakeholders/partners and the bank, to successfully deliver joint projects and initiatives.
  • Deliver thought leadership and insights to inform strategic decision making and organisational readiness, in conjunction with regular research, identifying emerging technologies and trends.  .
  • Development and management of key metrics including key partnerships, innovation initiatives and impact through regular assessments to calculate the return on investment and identify any potential risks and issues.
