Hybrid Working

Structured hybrid role:    
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction:

As Solution Architect, the candidate would be required to: 
•    Lead the functional and technical solution architecture and design by front facing business and other stakeholders; that align with latest architecture and strategy within the Bank.
•    Creates technology solutions at an initial level of detail, to meet business requirements for medium to large scale projects, in line with Group IT Strategies & Architectures, and tech domains:
o    Adding clarity to business requirements
o    Translating business requirements into functional and non-functional requirements
o    Supporting project definition
o    Identifying common or duplicated needs across landscape
•    Work with product, operations team, and business group to understand and gather requirements.
•    Collaborate with architecture, security, infrastructure, data, and other component teams to design end-to-end solution to the business requirements.
•    Challenge business requirements and demands to ensure high quality candidate solutions are created and considered
•    Applies innovative thinking to support the business in delivering its strategic objectives in line Group Architecture standards and tech domains, rather than just responding to a pre-defined request
•    Produce Solution documentation to a high standard that clearly articulates solution covering functional, non-functional, with focus on Infrastructure views, operations views, alerting and monitoring, resiliency
•    Reviewing detailed design, test strategy, scope and test scenarios.
•    Supports effective transition of the solution requirement into the Governance and Change model
•    Via oversight, maintains ownership of the design throughout the development process
•    Provides technology perspective input into new product and vendor selection process
•    Supports design & architecture development and governance activities
•    Maintains detailed awareness of, takes fully into account as necessary, and promotes throughout the organisation, any relevant statutory, internal or external regulations, standards and codes of good practice. Contributes as appropriate to the definition of such regulations, standards and codes
•    Maintains knowledge of relevant technical specialists at the highest level, by reading appropriate literature, attending conferences and seminars, meeting and maintaining contact with other leading practitioners of the technical specialism and though playing a major role in appropriate learned, professional and trade bodies
•    Is fluent at articulating best practice and is a recognised authority in Corporate Banking practices
•    Takes responsibility for architectural adherence, quality standards and policies
•    Escalate risks and issues that emerge from requirements gathering and solution design to governance forum. 
•    Conducts Failure Mode Engineering Analysis to identify design hot spots
•    Maintains Tech Debt Catalogue 


Strategy Development
•    Supports the creation of appropriate strategies for Corporate Digital Banking
•    Supports the planning process to ensure interdependencies are understood and that the proposed plan is viable
•    Influences the relevant business strategy to maximise the effective use of technology

Key Relationships
•    CTO - Enterprise Architect 
•    Solution Architects in various business area that contribute to the solution
•    Chief Security Office, Run the Bank leads
•    Billing Development teams, Product Managers, Operations
•    Wider development teams who contribute to the initiative
•    Relevant Vendor who develop the solutions


What will you be doing?

•    Should have strong interpersonal and presentation skills.  
•    Ability to work with multiple component teams to come-up with desired end-to-end solution.
•    Own the task independently.
•    Be able to communicate clearly on the status and progress of allocated activities.
•    Have worked in banking and finance domain. 
•    Define and produce functional and non-functional requirements.
•    Work with multiple cross-functional teams to achieve desired results.
•    Should have good understanding of various technologies and participate in providing solutions to the problem.

•    Experience in Banking and Finance covering payments landscape and corporate billing for large banks.
•    Experience with requirement gathering and working with multiple teams to arrive at solution.
•    Experience of working within a SDLC and/or Agile project environment.
•    Should have worked as Solution Architect in large projects and has good understanding of various technologies like Java, J2EE, Oracle, Teradata, MQ, Web Services and other related technologies.
•    Should be able to design solution for enterprise web application and be well versed with design patterns, data security, data encryption, web application hosting, and cloud computing.
•    Should be able to create various design and architecture diagrams in order to clearly articulate the solution to the business problem or requirement.
•    Should have strong presentation skills to clearly present and convey the architecture and solution for various business and technology requirements and problems and get agreement from stakeholders.
•    Should have knowledge and experience of various data exchange mechanism covering file based, MQ, API, and good knowledge of ETL.

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Project management skills to be able to work with project manager in planning deliveries and tracking progress.
•    Experience in ORMB (Oracle Revenue Management and Billing), MiRevenue or such other global billing application in banking domain.
•    Ability to get into the details of any technical or functional issues and provide support to the team.
•    Strong technology skills in Java, J2EE, Oracle, MQ and related applications
•    Skilled in analysing data and comfortable working on advance features of MS Excel, macros etc.
