Join us in the role as Oracle DBA admin -Analyst in Singapore. The Specialised Infrastructure DBA team  is responsible for supporting and architecting highly performant oracle database architecture  used by  regulatory applications.

In this role, you will support  key application stakeholders from Rates and Equities supporting their databases. Daily work will involve analysing, solving, and resolving  issues in real time as well as providing suggestions for improved  solutions, automating monitoring and other jobs with a SRE mindset, constantly evaluating new database features, performance tuning, and designing for the future as well frequent patching Oracle RDBMS and Grid Infrastructure typically again on weekends.  There will be a heavy  expectation of weekend work all round  when major releases need to be supported as well as Datacentre recovery events which happen frequently in the year. This is a highly demanding role with expectation of high availability of systems and thus prompt and immediate support. To be successful in the role, you must have:

  • Tenacity and not be intimidated by demanding application teams and have had working experience in a 24/7 support environment for critical production systems. 

  • Experience in working with Vendor technical support staff, including vendor development teams.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal,  written and verbal communication skills and  a natural passion for both finance and technology.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate at senior level and manage demanding expectations.

  • Ability to work under high pressure  and meet tight deadlines

  • Fluency in Formal incident / problem / change management based on ITIL methodology.

  • Excellent articulation skills to produce clear and detailed documentation

  • Flexibility regarding working hours (meetings with EMEA and US regions are frequent, as well as  implementing tasks outside of business hours)

Essential skills  required:

  • Oracle RDBMS knowledge 12c / 19c

  • Oracle DataGuard + Active DataGuard option

  • Oracle Real Application Clusters

  • Oracle Multitenant architecture

  • SQL, PL/SQL , SQL*Net

  • Linux knowledge on a user level + basic skills for investigation OS problems

  • Basic programming skills for scripting and automating tasks as well as strong chef and git knowledge

  • Proven experience Investigating database performance problems including performance of SQL statements

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure.  Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response. 

Accountabilities

  • Build Engineering:  Development, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Including the identification of the appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements.
  • Incident Management: Monitoring of IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use of data to drive down mean time to resolution.
  • Automation:  Development and implementation of automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
  • Security: Implementation of a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats, including protection of hardware, software, and data from unauthorised access.
  • Teamwork:  Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives via a data driven approach.
  • Learning: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
