What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Data Engineer AVP in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):

  • Integrate onboarding platforms with risk and financial crime compliance systems like PEP/sanctions screening, AML transaction monitoring, and document verification systems.

  • Develop data pipelines using Apache Spark, Python, and Databricks, as well as ETL orchestration tools across multi-cloud platforms including AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, and GCP Dataflow.

  • Build scalable microservices in Java using Spring Boot, Spring Data, Hibernate, Python Flask and FastAPI, and NodeJS (ExpressJS) in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes), integrated with messaging systems (Kafka, Redis).

  • Design databases and model data using MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB and Aurora

  • Support audit logs, segmentation rules, and onboarding KPIs.

  • Integrate enterprise analytics platforms such as Tableau, HyperCube, Power BI, and build compliance-focused dashboards.

  • Design and build secure and compliant web applications in regulated financial environments using HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, AngularJS, ReactJS, and NodeJS, supporting onboarding and client due diligence (CDD) processes.

  • Develop automations for onboarding approval workflows using regulatory standards such as BSA/AML, FATF, and CCPA/GDPR, with experience translating compliance logic into code.

  • Perform CI/CD automation and infrastructure deployment using GitLab, Jenkins, Terraform, and AWS CloudFormation, with audit-ready traceability practices.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and Agile/Scrum leadership to multi-disciplinary software teams. Mentor junior engineers, conducting code reviews, and delivering compliance software within enterprise sprint cycles.

Minimum Salary: $189,592 per year

Maximum Salary: $208,552 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. 

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
  • Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.
