What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Reliability Engineer – Markets RTB (multiple positions) in Whippany, NJ:

  • Provide production support for business analytics activities involving equity financing.

  • Ensure application support for customer-facing applications including trade capture, security lending/borrowing and billing systems.

  • Handle escalated technical support issues.

  • Investigate issues to provide swift solutions or ad-hoc tactical fixes, whilst also engaging with application owners to provide effective problem management and strategic resolutions.

  • Communicate, manage, and escalate issues and major incidents.

  • Interact with colleagues in Glasgow/India/NYC, RTB/BTB teams in India/UK/USA and APAC/UK/US Business on a regular basis to improve service levels where needed.

  • Organize teams and processes around real-world market events to drive volatility in market and impact the trading desk’s profitability.

  • Provide advisory services to business and help teams for functional use cases and configuration of Trading and Client Facing systems.

  • Lead management of business-critical real-time trading, client-facing and back-office systems, with focus on identifying issues and potential problem areas.

  • Log and track incidents and issues following ITIL standards, tracking outstanding issues and working with appropriate parties to achieve resolution.

Minimum Salary: $150,550.00 per year

Maximum Salary: $165,605.00 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response, to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through them. 

Accountabilities

  • Availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
  • Resolution, analysis and response to system outages and disruptions, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
  • Development of tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
  • Monitoring and optimisation of system performance and resource usage, identify and address bottlenecks, and implement best practices for performance tuning.
  • Collaboration with development teams to integrate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle, and work closely with other teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
