Senior Connectivity Engineer

In this role, you’ll support our Equities clients by developing low-latency, high-throughput FIX-based connectivity systems. To be successful as a Senior Connectivity Engineer, you should have experience with:

• Developing distributed applications in Java or C++ focused on performance and reliability under Linux

• Applying knowledge of the FIX protocol in connectivity systems

• Working with multi-threading, memory management, caching, networking, distributed systems, and algorithms

• Building technology solutions for trading, risk, middle office, or related financial services

• Guiding and mentoring junior engineers within a team environment

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Familiarity with network or platform infrastructure

• Scripting with Bash, Perl, or Python

• Clear and effective communication across technical and business teams

This role is located in Whippany, New Jersey

Minimum Salary: $170,000

Maximum Salary: $230,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
