Explore locationEmbark on a transformative journey with Barclays as a VP Regulatory Policy. Your role will be to lead the development and execution of the company’s regulatory policy strategy, ensuring alignment with both local and global regulatory frameworks. Your role will work closely with executive teams, legal counsel, compliance officers, and government relations teams to identify and address regulatory inquires and opportunities. You will oversee the interpretation of highly detailed regulatory issues, advocate for the organization’s position in policy discussions, and provide strategic guidance on regulatory matters that impact business operations. As part of the US Finance Regulatory Policy Group, specifically focused on advisory, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing policy interpretations for capital and liquidity regulations.
To be successful as a VP Regulatory Policy, you should have experience with:
• Ensuring the provision of authoritative technical regulatory interpretation support to key stakeholders including Corporate Treasury, Regulatory New product approvals, capital / liquidity applications, etc
• Building deep and effective working relationships across the business, with the resilience to see issues through to completion, working with other functions as needed (e.g. Risk, Legal and Technical Accounting)
• Maintaining regular, two-way flow of information between the business and FRP, enabling us to better anticipate future challenges and provide a better service
• Becoming a technical authority recognized by peers, management and internal clients
• Exposure to reviewing existing and proposed regulations to identify areas for interpretations, identifying and escalating material gaps in implementation. Be aware of approaches adopted by competitors
• Exposure to tracking proposed rule changes from Basel through to enactment in US legislation/regulation (such as the NPR on Basel 3 endgame)
• Exposure to liaising with businesses and impacted functions to shape meaningful advocacy, interpretation and implementation planning for the firm
Some other highly valued skills may include:
• Knowledge or experience in liquidity regulations such as the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) and Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) would be preferred
• The ability to navigate multi-faceted regulatory landscapes and provide actionable insights to guide business decisions
• Notable communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
• Knowledge in identifying and managing regulatory risks, including potential impacts on business operations, reputation, and financial health
You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
This role is located in the New York, NY office.
Minimum Salary: $160,000
Maximum Salary: $210,000
