To be successful as a Engineering Infrastructure/DevOps Lead you should have experience with:

  • Experience/Knowledge of,

    Operating systems - Unix/Linux

    Shell & PowerShell scripting

    Relational Database, preferably Oracle DB Server

    Application/Web server, preferably JWS Tomcat & Spring boot framework.

    Infrastructure as a Code (IaC) tools like Chef, Ansible

    Monitoring tools like AppDynamics, ESaaS

    Messaging technologies, preferably IBM MQ, Kafka

    Experience working with OpenShift Container Platform & AWS

  • Implement monitoring and analytics to track performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize the systems. 

  • Manage & drive the DevOps pipeline that supports the application lifecycle across the DevOps toolchain – from planning, coding & building, to testing, to staging, to PROD release.

  • Conversant into framing out the deployment strategy for deploying the artifacts 

  • Experience of tools like Bitbucket, Nexus, Jenkins/Gitlab & Nolio.

  • Team Leadership - Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Infra/DevOps team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Facilitate positive engagement and collaboration between multiple parties including key internal & external stakeholders. Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences. 

  • Compliance and Security - Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, and implement security measures to protect infrastructure and data. 

  • Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges.

  • Strategic Thinking - Ability to develop and execute strategic plans for strategic initiatives.

Some other highly valued skills includes:

  • Industry-Specific Knowledge - Experience in a financial services/ FinCrime domain will be beneficial. 

  • Cloud Platform Expertise - Proficiency with cloud platforms like AWS. 

  • Understanding of containerization and orchestration - Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure.  Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response. 

Accountabilities

  • Build Engineering:  Development, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Including the identification of the appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements.
  • Incident Management: Monitoring of IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use of data to drive down mean time to resolution.
  • Automation:  Development and implementation of automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
  • Security: Implementation of a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats, including protection of hardware, software, and data from unauthorised access.
  • Teamwork:  Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives via a data driven approach.
  • Learning: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
