UI Developer

Join us a UI Developer at Barclays where as a UI Developer, you’ll build modern, accessible interfaces using ReactJS, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance applications aligned with Barclays’ technology standards.

To be successful as a UI Developer, where you should have experience with:

• Develop reusable, efficient ReactJS components based on UI/UX designs.

• Integrate front-end with RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Ensure responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility (WCAG).

• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives).

• Conduct code reviews, write unit/integration tests, and support CI/CD pipelines.

• Collaborate with designers and product managers to deliver pixel-perfect interfaces.

• Stay updated with front-end trends and contribute to UI stack improvements.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Strong hands-on experience with ReactJS, including hooks, state management (Redux/Context API), and component lifecycle.

• Proficient in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and build tools (Webpack, Babel, NPM/Yarn).

• Solid understanding of responsive design, web accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.

• Experience integrating RESTful APIs, handling JSON, and asynchronous operations.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
