What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Software Engineer in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):

1. Design and develop software applications to improve the procurement and delivery of tools required by Barclays applications.
2. Design an architecture for a software system to ingest and standardize developer software tools into a central golden repository.
3. Follow Agile software development practices to work in a sprint orientated development team.
4. Write and maintain a core common library in Go programming language to implement common functionality of the designed software system.
5. Use the core common library to write applications in Go programming language which will download the defined set of developer software tools, standardize and repackage them, and
upload them to the central golden repository.
6. Create automated continuous integration pipelines to build, test, scan and release the applications mentioned above.
7. Create automated pipelines to build container images, using Docker container technology, to enable build and continuous integration capabilities for Java, .NET, Go, NodeJS languages
in GitLab platform. These builder container images should leverage the developer software tools that are ingested and stored in the central golden repository.
8. Write example applications which can be built by the builder container images in GitLab in order to test them. These example applications will be written in Java, .NET, Go and NodeJS.
9. Design and write an application in Go programming language to run on user laptops and desktops to manage downloading, installing, upgrading and management of developer software tools sourced from the central golden repository.
10. Support and maintain the existing framework of reusable CloudFormation based Service Catalog products for commonly used AWS services that serve as building blocks for rapidly
building application infrastructure stacks.

Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $157,00 per year
Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $163,372 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any another type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
