Join us as a Senior Product (UX) Designer here at Barclays, where you will shape seamless and intuitive user experiences, designing solutions to align with both user needs and business objectives. You will lead design projects, taking responsibility for planning, communication, and prioritisation, whilst collaborating with colleagues across the business. By using your understanding of business goals and technology development, you will ensure the quality of designs across app and web platforms, adhering to high design standards and accessibility guidelines. You will champion human-centred design practices, stay ahead of industry trends, and trial new methodologies to promote innovation. Additionally, you will mentor junior designers, contributing to the growing capability of the Insight and Design team. Through your leadership, you’ll ensure the quality of design is maintained and that essential design governance is followed throughout the process.

To be successful as a Product Designer, you should have experience with:

  • Designing user-centred digital experiences, with a proven track record demonstrating your expertise and understanding of UX principles.
  • Working with briefs, data, and user research to inform and enhance your design solutions.
  • Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, confidently engaging with a range of stakeholders and providing valuable feedback when necessary.
  • Applying design thinking to develop new products or improve existing ones, ensuring the needs of the business and users are met.
  • Translating complex ideas into clear, engaging, and user-friendly design solutions.
  • Utilising good understanding of human-centred design principles to create solutions that address user needs and enhance their experience.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • A University degree or comparative qualification in digital or graphic design, with a good understanding of visual design principles.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or other relevant tools.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS to better understand development components.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively present ideas, collaborate with teams, and manage stakeholder expectations.

This role may be based out of London, Glasgow or Knutsford .

Purpose of the role

To create user-centred and visually appealing designs for digital banking products by conducting user research, design of user interfaces and experiences, collaboration with stakeholders, and continuous improvement. 

Accountabilities

  • Execution of user research and usability tests to understand customer needs, pain points, and integrate feedback and preferences to banking products and services, through collaboration with various stakeholders, including product managers and developers.
  • Creation of intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for digital banking platforms and applications for a seamless and engaging user experience.
  • Design and maintenance of visually appealing and consistent user interfaces that align with the bank's brand identity and design guidelines across digital products.
  • Creation of wireframes and interactive prototypes for visualisation and testing of product concepts and features before development.
  • Accessibility considerations to ensure that designs comply with accessibility standards and guidelines to provide an inclusive experience for all users.
  • Monitoring of industry trends, design best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the design quality and innovation of banking products.
