Join us as a DevOps Engineer at Barclays where you will spearhead the evolution of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines, driving innovation and operational excellence. To be successful as a DevOps Engineer, you should have experience with:

  • Sound knowledge of DevOps Stack

    • Scripting/Programming: Python

    • Version Control & Source Code Management – GIT/BitBucket

    • CI/CD – Jenkins, Gitlab CI/CD

    • Containerization & Orchestration – Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift

    • Infra as Code and Config Mgmt. – Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform

    • Database – MsSQL / PgSQL

    • OS: Strong proficiency in Linux.

    • Networking & Storage Systems

    • Monitoring, Observability, & Logging - Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack

    • Security

    • SonarQube, SAST/DAST tools, secrets management.

    • Secure-by-design methodology

    • TLS / API Security/ Tokens/Encryption

    • Authentication/Authorization

  • Design and implement Microservices applications, Kafka-based event streaming solutions. Configure / optimize Apps / Kafka brokers and topics.

  • Design and implement secure file transfer solutions and ensure compliance with data protection requirements

  • Working knowledge of resilient systems for — compute, containers, integration, data, storage etc.

  • Methodologies: Agile / Scrum / Kanban / Lean

  • Good problem-solving skills and experience in Java/Python and/or related technologies.

  • Good working knowledge and hands-on experience of application and web servers.

  • Exposure to and familiarity of AWS (Amazon Web Services) or a public cloud.

  • Monitor and manage cluster resources ensuring optimal utilization and application performance.

  • Collaborate with Technology team during environment provisioning cycles (DEV/SIT/UAT) and for Prod deployments.

  • Collaborate with Service Operations’ teams during Prod deployments, troubleshooting of Incidents/Changes. Provide technical support and help with incident resolution.

The role is based out of Pune.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
