Hybrid Working 
Structured hybrid role:    
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

Introduction 

As a Tech Lead you are responsible for leading great engineering across our new platform services and products. An exciting opportunity for an experienced technologist, you will drive the delivery of our client facing applications. 
What will you be doing?
•    You deliver world class applications to provide an enhanced customer experience across our Digital Corporate Bank estate 
•    Lead the engineering team as we build real-time streaming applications and APIs as part of our digital transformation
•    Expertise in build cloud hosted microservices using Java, Kafka and Spring

What we’re looking for:
•    Deep understanding of software engineering using JVM based languages and frameworks. 
•    In-depth knowledge and experience in at least one of: host-based cloud computing (AWS / OpenShift etc), enterprise application programming, distributed systems, databases and Kubernetes (and a desire to learn more)
•    Basic understanding of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery concepts (CI / CD) and also should be aware of CI tools like Jenkins/Bamboo, etc.
•    Solid understanding of Kafka fundamentals, including brokers, Zookeeper, connectors and KSQL
•    Developing high-quality and detailed designs.
•    Designing, developing and deploying modular cloud-based applications
•    A proven track record of automation and an algorithmic approach to solving problems
•    A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, performance bottlenecks, etc.
•    Ability to profile and debug applications in real-time. 
•    Experience of managing engineering teams  
•    Building high-performing, mission critical applications using an Agile approach

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    BS in Computer Science, IT, IS, or equivalent area of technical study (IT experience can substitute for a BS degree)
•    Ability to mentor and coach colleagues
