Embark on a transformative journey as a Lead Ab Initio Developer - VP. At Barclays, our vision is clear –to redefine the future of banking and help craft innovative solutions within the Core Market Risk Data Platform development team.  As a Lead Ab Initio Developer, you’ll be a key player in the Core Market Risk Data Platform team, shaping how data is ingested, transformed, and analyzed to support the bank’s Market Risk operations. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering innovative solutions, ensuring high performance, and maintaining best practices for complex data flows.

To be successful as a Lead Ab Initio Developer - VP, you should:

  • Ample understanding and hands-on experience with Ab Initio, particularly with data ingestion, transformation, and performance optimization.

  • Considerable grasp of the Ab Initio ETL framework with a keen eye on improving/maintaining performance/best practices.

  • Deep knowledge of data warehousing principles, data architecture, design, and implementation.

  • Ample written and verbal communication skills, particularly when interacting with business stakeholders and senior leadership.

  • Familiarity with Investment Banking functional knowledge.

  • Basic understanding of how Market Risk data functions within the banking industry.

  • Ability to lead, make decisions on complex issues, and mentor junior developers.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. 

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
  • Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.
