To be successful as a Reference Data Developer, you should have:

  • Proficiency in Java and Python, with practical experience using frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Django, or Flask, and familiarity with modern development approaches

  • Capability to design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices, following best practices to ensure scalability, performance, and security in enterprise-level financial systems

  • Knowledge of database technologies, including SQL tuning, relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle), and NoSQL solutions (MongoDB, Redis) for high-volume transaction processing

  • Experience with testing methodologies and tools, such as JUnit, TestNG, and pytest, along with involvement in CI/CD pipelines using Git, Maven or Gradle, and automated deployment processes

  • Effective collaboration skills in agile environments, with a problem-solving mindset, ability to guide junior developers, and clear communication for cross-functional teamwork

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, along with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes for scalable and efficient deployment

  • Understanding of the financial services domain, including banking systems, regulatory frameworks, and familiarity with high-frequency, mission-critical applications

  • Knowledge of advanced architectural patterns, including microservices design, distributed systems, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and event-driven architectures

  • Data engineering capabilities, including ETL processes, data migration, big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop), and familiarity with machine learning libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn

  • DevOps and monitoring expertise, with experience using application performance monitoring tools (New Relic, DataDog), applying security best practices, and working with infrastructure as code

This role is located in Whippany, NJ.

Minimum Salary: $75,000

Maximum Salary: $135,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
