Embark on a transformative journey as a Software Engineer – Microservices at Barclays. Our vision is clear - to redefine the future of banking by crafting innovative solutions. As a key member of the Enterprise Storage Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in driving automation and observability efforts. You’ll work directly with the CTO and Engineering teams, taking ownership of product automation and maintenance. Join us as we design, develop, and maintain software solutions built on microservice architectures, adhering to industry standards and Barclays' engineering guidelines. You’ll conduct comprehensive testing including unit and integration testing to ensure software quality and reliability. This role also serves as a critical support resource for APEX and the adoption of new ways of working.

To be successful as a Software Engineer - Microservices, you should have experience with:

  • Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift for scalable application deployment

  • Cloud platforms as AWS and Azur, including compute, storage, and networking services

  • Infrastructure Code- Ansible, Terraform for automated provisioning and configuration

  • Python and Go for scripting, automation, and backend development

  • Agile methodologies as Scrum and Kanban for iterative delivery and team collaboration

Other highly valued skills include:

  • Understanding of algorithms, system design, and architecture

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for microservice architectures, adhering to industry standards and Barclays' guidelines

  • Conduct comprehensive testing including unit and integration testing to ensure software quality and reliability

  • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews) to track progress, address blockers, and foster team collaboration

This role is located in Whippany, NJ office.

Minimum Salary: $75,000

Maximum Salary: $135,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
