Hybrid Working

Structured hybrid role:    
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction:

•    Create with guidance from more senior solutions designers and enterprise architects, technology solutions to meet business requirements in line with Cluster and Group IT Strategies and Architectures
•    Work with the relevant Technology and Change Project Manager and other Solutions Designers, Business Solutions Leads and Enterprise Architects, responsible for ensuring that the outcomes delivered by projects are consistent with the original solution
•    Support the development of systems strategies and roadmaps for the supported business area
•    Provide ad-hoc consultancy as required to the business on technical matters

What will you be doing?

•    Understanding of PEGA 7 , PEGA 8, Infinity 23
•    Solutions Development (Minimum 60%)
•    Will create, with guidance from more senior solutions designers and enterprise architects, technology solutions, and stage 0 costs, to meet business requirements, in line with Cluster and Group O&T Strategies and Architectures. Work with supply chain (including external) as appropriate. This will typically be on smaller, less complex projects, and often with guidance and supervision from more senior solutions designers.
•    Adding clarity to business requirements; translates; challenges business requirements and demands to ensure high quality candidate solutions are created
•    Identifying common or duplicative needs across SBU, Cluster & Group O&T
•    Thinks outside of the box to support the business in delivering its strategic objectives rather than just responding to a pre-defined request,
•    Works with project managers, sourcing managers and more senior solutions designers to ensure that the validity of the overall solution is fully represented and considered in any RFI/RFPs process, or in the creation and evaluation of proof of concept solutions
•    Works with external and internal suppliers to flesh out and develop solution
•    Takes responsibility for ensuring that solutions adhere to architectural and quality standards and policies.
•    Working with the relevant Technology and Change Project Manager, and Solutions Designers, Business Solutions Leads and Enterprise Architects, responsible for ensuring that the outcomes delivered by projects are consistent with the original solution specified. This will be achieved by reviewing project design SDLC artefacts (e.g. High Level Design, Detailed Design) and the impact of significant change requests.
•    Advice and Guidance (up to 25%)
•    Support the Lead Solutions Designer in providing advice and guidance to business stakeholders in shaping the portfolio of technology solutions to be provided to the business
•    Contribute to broader architectural governance activities by participating in peer reviews for other solutions designers. Form part of broader solutioning community across Business Solutions for advice and guidance.
•    Maintains awareness of, takes fully into account as necessary, and promotes throughout the organisation, any relevant statutory, internal or external regulations, standards and codes of good practice. Is capable of contributing to the definition of such regulations, standards and codes.
•    Strategy Development (up to 10%)
•    Working with more senior solutions designers, and relevant Enterprise Architects, supports the creation of an appropriate technology strategy and roadmap for the relevant business area.
•    Supports the Medium Term Planning (MTP) process to ensure interdependencies are understood and that the proposed plan is viable.
•    With guidance from more senior solutions designers, influence the relevant business strategy to maximize the effective use of technology.
•    Maintains knowledge of relevant technical specialism(s), by reading relevant literature, attending conferences and seminars, meeting and maintaining contact with other leading practitioners of the technical specialism and though playing a major role in appropriate learned, professional and trade bodies.
•    Keeps in close touch with, and contributes to current developments in the relevant technical specialism(s) within Barclays, own industry and outside. Is fluent at articulating best practice
•    Control (including Governance & Risk) 5%
•    Adhere to Policies & Standards appropriate to the role - outlined in the Code of Conduct and mandatory training.
•    Ensure that all risks identified are managed as per Risk Framework procedures, ensure risk events (incidents) and control failures are investigated, reported, fixed and/or escalated to prevent reoccurrence.
•    In instances where role holder is an owner of a key control, they will be required to provide supporting records to demonstrate regular review and maintenance.
•    In addition, will be responsible to ensure all personal mandatory training is completed within defined timelines


What we’re looking for:

•    BE / BTech or equivalent
•    Experience on PEGA 7, PEGA 8
•    Enterprise Services (SAP, BPM - Pega, ECM - Filenet, OpenText)
•    Strong in pega based application development and design principles. 
•    Must have prior experience in creating and debugging REST/SOAP webservices and connectors.
•    Strong understanding WAS, JBoSS and Tomcat servers
•     Preferably CLSA certified or played role in capacity of leading pega projects as solution architect.
•    Good knowledge on process flows, case types, case hierarchy, case dependency, parallel processing, complex routing.
•    Experience in creating background process jobs in pega using queue processors & job schedulers.
•    Experience in creating Declarative rules like declare expressions, decision trees & tables, data pages
•    Experience in working on Pega BIX
•    Experience in handling session management with cookies disabled, error handling and Database threading, using load balancers and single-sign-on like webseal integration
•    Knowledge on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
•    Experience in writing Activities, data transform, functions. 
•    Experience using pega unit testing and scenario testing frameworks
•    SQL query writing using Teradata and Oracle would be added advantage
•    Working on several tasks on a variety of different projects at the same time.
•    Proven ability to build effective internal relationships
•    Awareness of innovative management information tools and systems 
•    Governance and compliance policies, standards, and procedures required to fulfil role e.g., data security, records management, 
•    Strong analytical skills including ability to provide observations and comment
•    Wider-thinking and problem solving – identifying and delivering reporting through own initiative.
•    Understanding of change management process.

•    Familiarity with cloud technologies: OpenShift, AWS
•    Knowledge of DevOps practices, tooling and automation: Chef, Jenkins
•    Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and development of containerized applications
•    Experience working in an Agile development methodology
•    Experience with project management tools: Rally, JIRA, Confluence, Stash
