To be a successful Product Owner, you should have experience with:

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define and communicate a clear product vision aligned to business objectives and customer needs.

  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap that balances strategic initiatives, regulatory commitments, technical debt, and operational priorities.

  • Translate organizational goals into actionable product outcomes and measurable success metrics.

  • Drive product lifecycle planning from concept through delivery and continuous improvement.

Backlog Ownership & Prioritization

  • Own, refine, and prioritize the product backlog to maximize business value.

  • Define epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

  • Ensure backlog readiness and alignment with quarterly objectives and delivery plans.

  • Make prioritization decisions based on customer value, commercial impact, risk, and technical feasibility.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and delivery teams.

  • Communicate roadmap progress, risks, dependencies, and delivery outcomes to senior stakeholders.

Agile Delivery Leadership

  • Partner with Scrum Masters, Engineers, Architects, Business Analysts, and QA teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, PI Planning, Reviews, and Demos.

  • Accept completed work against agreed acceptance criteria and Definition of Done.

  • Ensure teams maintain focus on delivering customer and business value.

  • Customer & Business Value Focus

  • Champion customer outcomes and continuously seek opportunities to enhance user experience.

  • Leverage data, customer feedback, and business insights to drive prioritization decisions.

  • Define and track KPIs, OKRs, and product performance metrics.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, automation, and process optimization.

Risk, Governance & Controls

  • Ensure products comply with regulatory, security, and operational requirements.

  • Partner with Risk and Control functions to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.

  • Manage delivery dependencies and impediments across teams and programs.

  • Support audit, compliance, and governance activities as required.

Essential Skills & Experience

Product Management

  • Strong experience owning product vision, roadmaps, and backlog management.

  • Proven ability to define and prioritize features based on value and strategic objectives.

  • Experience managing products through the full product lifecycle.

Agile & Delivery

  • Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and scaled delivery frameworks.

  • Experience working within complex enterprise technology environments.

Stakeholder Management

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.

  • Experience within Corporate Banking, Payments, FX, Treasury, Trade Finance, or Transaction Banking domains.

  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, Scrum Product Owner, or similar Agile certifications.

The role is based out of Pune.

Purpose of the role

To collaborate with product owners and other technical teams involved in the product development process and utilise their knowledge of the bank’s technologies to enact the vision defined in the product roadmap. 

Accountabilities

  • Provision of subject matter expertise to support the collaboration between the product owner and the technical side of product development.
  • Support the development and implementation of the product strategy and vision defined in the product roadmap and communicate them with the relevant stakeholders and the development team.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders to gather and prioritise product requirements and features based on business value and feasibility that are well defined, measurable and secure.
  • Development and implementation of assessments to ensure continuous testing and improvement of product quality and performance.
  • Monitoring of product performance to identify opportunities for optimisation that meets the banks performance standards.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry technology trends and technologies, to evaluate and adopt new approaches to improve product development and delivery.
