Equities Valuations Software Engineer

In this role, you will design and build software that underpins the valuation of equity instruments, working closely with Trading and Quant teams to deliver scalable, high-performance pricing platforms. You will contribute to mission-critical systems that directly impact trading performance and risk management, while gaining exposure to front-office workflows and financial markets technology.

To be successful as an Equities Valuations Software Engineer, you should have experience with:

• Developing software in Core Java using object-oriented design, collections, multithreading, automated testing, and code review practices

• Gathering requirements and designing technical solutions for new business functionality

• Taking ownership in a team environment, collaborating with IT and business teams, and participating in cross-team support rotas

• Working with financial market products, with a preference for equity derivatives

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Working with messaging and container technologies such as JMS, IBM MQ, Docker, and Kubernetes

• Developing or supporting pricing, risk, or other high-volume distributed systems

• Using development tools and practices such as Git, Jira, Confluence, Kanban, TDD, and structured code reviews

• Providing technical support to business users and other technology teams

This role is located in Whippany, New Jersey.

Minimum Salary: $120,000

Maximum Salary: $175,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
