Data Management Design and Advisory

Join Barclays as a Data Management Design and Advisory Lead, where you will play a key role in shaping how data and records are governed across our global organisation. You will help design, embed, and evolve robust data management frameworks that support regulatory compliance, data quality, and trusted decision‑making across the bank.

To be successful as a Data Management Design and Advisory Lead, you should have:

• Data Management Design & Operating Model Leadership – Advanced expertise in data management principles, governance frameworks, and industry standards, with experience embedding sustainable capabilities that improve data quality, traceability, and compliance.

• Advisory, Consulting & Strategic Skills – Proven ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders, constructively challenge existing practices, and drive alignment across business, technology, and risk teams, often without direct authority.

• Stakeholder Management & Governance Facilitation – Experience partnering across business, technology, risk, and change functions to embed data management into delivery and operations through coaching, guidance, and reusable frameworks.

• Communication & Influence – Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for senior and technical audiences.

• Regulatory & Risk Exposure – Experience supporting regulatory engagement, audits, or risk and control assessments.

• Data Tooling Knowledge – Familiarity with data management tools such as metadata repositories, data lineage solutions, and data quality platforms.

Purpose of the role

To develop, implement, and maintain effective governance frameworks for all data and records across the bank's global operations. 

Accountabilities

• Development and maintenance of a comprehensive data and records governance framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Monitoring data quality and records metrics and compliance with standards across the organization.
• Identification and addressing of data and records management risks and gaps.
• Development and implementation of a records management programme that ensures the proper identification, classification, storage, retention, retrieval and disposal of records.
• Development and implementation of a data governance strategy that aligns with the bank's overall data management strategy and business objectives.
• Provision of Group wide guidance and training on Data and Records Management standard requirements.
