What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Algo Technology Platform Engineering in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):

•    Set technical standards and direction for progressive and emerging technologies within Platform engineering.
•    Develop CICD solutions for the Electronic Trading Technologies to create and maintain pipelines for virtualization, automated testing strategies and automated releases.
•    Enable adoption of rapid development principles by developing technological frameworks and enhancements to reduce developer friction.
•    Support and enhance microservice architecture within electronic trading to develop and maintain an effective software development lifecycle (SDLC).
•    Act as point of contact across teams within Electronic Trading business for virtualization strategy, guidance, and implementation to effectively collaborate on larger deliverables.
•    Maintain the stability and high availability of the SDLC tools and environments; optimize the SDLC.
•    Work on automation for quality assurance, releases, deployment, and other purposes. Continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD).
•    May telecommute.

Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $173,000 per year
Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $176,000 per year

Purpose of the role

To apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response, to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through them. 

Accountabilities

  • Availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
  • Resolution, analysis and response to system outages and disruptions, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
  • Development of tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
  • Monitoring and optimisation of system performance and resource usage, identify and address bottlenecks, and implement best practices for performance tuning.
  • Collaboration with development teams to integrate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle, and work closely with other teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
